Álvaro Galindo

21/11/2024

Looking at the GC rankings of the NEOM Titan Desert Saudi Arabia 2024 there is a name that jumps out, the fifth classified: Álvaro Galindo.

A name that did not appear in the pools as a favorite and who had no experience in Titan World Series races, but who is now ahead of names like Julen Zubero, Pablo Guerrero, Daniel Oss or Peter Sagan, among many others.

And who is Álvaro Galindo? A Segovian living in Dubai who works for the indoor cycling app Bkool. He already knows what it’s like to race a Cape Epic or a World Gravel Cup and has convinced his amateur team to join the Saudi adventure.

“I’ve been insisting on coming for two years and I’ve finally convinced them,” he explains. “We mostly compete in gravel and road, but I’m just crazy about the desert. I love it.

Although for many it is, for Álvaro himself it’s not a surprise to be where he is today: “I knew I could do well and that I would be in the top ten of the GC”. And he adds that tomorrow, a short stage with a lot of sand of the kind he has done so well on, he could be a candidate for victory: “Yes, tomorrow is my terrain”.
